improve fuel efficiency: control your road rage

There could be much said here concerning road rage. However, I thought the following fast facts were enlightening:

• Over 50 percent of all drivers have committed crimes of road rage.

• Many people don’t know road rage is a crime.

• People can go to prison for road recklessness.

• The chance of you never being a victim of road rage is almost zero.

• Around the world, millions of accidents have been caused by road rage or aggressive driving.

• If you ignore or respond incorrectly to a road rage incident, you may provoke more anger in the criminal.

• Road rage wastes fuel.

In my research, I was surprised to find so many websites about road rage. There are campaigns, seminars, meetings, information drives, and “I’m sorry for cutting you off” sign-making projects. Extensive research regarding the psychological effects and dangers of road rage is available. Reading this material may help if you’re having trouble controlling rage.

What does road rage have to do with fuel economy? If you’re a road rager, you most likely are not practicing fuel saving habits. For example, you’re probably speeding, driving aggressively, tailgating, and passing unnecessarily – all habits that waste fuel.

While driving your car with others’ interests in mind will save fuel and money, a more important issue is saving lives. When you drive, remember not just vehicles are next, in front and in back of you. Inside the vehicles are precious treasures in the form of people – innocent babies, sick and infirmed folk, someone’s relative or future soul mate, inventors, and cancer experts. Who knows? Maybe the next Einstein is next to you on his way to his laboratory to make a natural fuel breakthrough.

People conscious drivers are an asset to the road. If you’re such a driver, I want to personally thank you for your kindness and courteousness. You realize that everyone else has places to be, time constraints and a right to be on the road just like you. We need more people like you.
